ALGOR2007 Wins Nobel Peace Price

ALGOR2007

Marking a first for humaniform androids, the 2007 revision of the popular ALGOR robotic simulation won the Nobel Peace Prize. Definitely a marked improvement from the obsolete ALGOR2000 who couldn’t win the presidential election, mainly because of a defect in its human intimacy programming (that kiss was just horrible). Although I must admit that the ALGOR2002 revision, with the new Beard add-on, wasn’t bad. Hooray for simulated human interaction ALGORithms!

The New Captain Kirk?

Chris Pine

So, this is the guy that they’re thinking of casting as James T. Kirk for the next Star Trek movie? I hope not… but if they do, hopefully they can man him up beforehand, Kirk can’t be a pretty boy. Scarves… in… spaaaaaaace!!

It’s About Time We Entered the 21st Century

Ever since I watched Back to the Future 2 I’ve been dreaming of usable flying cars, and I can’t possibly be the only one. I’ve been following Moller’s project, but nothing much has happened since Back to the Future was in theaters, so that’s not promising.

Now from a company called Terrafugia comes the Transition, essentially a small airplane that folds up its wings to be road legal. Coming in 2009 with a sticker price of $148,000. Let’s hope this is for real!

Real Estate Must Be Heating Up

For the unconventional buyer, might I recommend a decommissioned underground nuclear missile base? For a mere 1.5 million dollars, the cost of a luxury home in some US cities, you could have your very own underground complex on about 57 acres, with 16 underground buildings. Sounds like a great place to retire while civilization collapses and is taken over by zombies!

Stewie from Family Guy, in his usual fashion, thinks the same way I do about a lot of things:

Democracy Rocks

So it looks like CAFTA is going to be ratified here in Costa Rica. As a Canadian I’ve seen many of the economic benefits of the NAFTA deal, and free trade usually turns out to be a good move for any country. Can’t wait to be paying a realistic price for canned soups…..

Soup That Costs Like a Meal

Money in Space

Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination

Money in space! Some people over at a British foreign exchange firm decided to get really foreign, and create a practical unit of currency for space tourists. Shoulda called them “credits” though, that would be more Star Trek.
